Yes, I agree a generic cover letter is no longer effective. Best is to customize your resume for every job you apply. Especially during these trying times.

For those who need to vent some frustrations here’s a website where people who have been affected by job loss in the current recession could share their anxieties and problems with others having faced similar problems in the past. One website that is interesting is http://www.angstcorner.com.

I particularly like their punch bag section where one can vent out their anger against their tormentor by virtually ‘punching’ them with a weapon of choice! That is quite hilarious.

Comment on What About a Video Resume by klowrey

John you make a great point. I didn't really dig deep about video resumes. I like the example you provided, but the girl is an actress. What I said does not apply to actresses and models (I know I left that part out).

Other then models and actors I still feel that video clips are not a good addition to your resume. The goal of your resume is to get you called in for an interview and lets list the ways that your little video clip could screw that up:
* You could look to young
* You could look to old
* You could look to fat
* You could look to thin.
* You could look to ethnic (what ever that might mean).
* Etc
I just see to many things that can go wrong. Plus shooting good video is difficult and paying someone to do it for you is expensive. I just don't think video worth the investment.
